In 2002, Alex began his property investment journey by purchasing, refurbishing, and renting out his first HMO property—which wasn't even called an HMO at the time. Leveraging  his experience in the food industry, he acquired and merged two failing food companies, building a successful business that he sold fourteen years later. During this time, Alex continued to invest in, refurbish, and manage HMO's and single-let properties, as well as converting houses into flats. Following the sale of his food business, Alex decided to focus on his passion for property and with over 20 years of experience founded Georlan Properties Ltd.
